Jayden's 1st Friend Sleepover

Last Thursday since Kimberly was spending the night at Emily's Jayden thought it was only fair for us to have Tucker spend the night at our house. Those boys played SO Hard! It was crazy. They loved every minute so I won't be too surprised when Jayden begs to do it again. Hopefully Doug and I will survive as well as we did this time.

Impromptu BBQ and Marshmallow Roast

Last night Doug was mowing the yard and putting some rocks around the fire pit when we got a wild (and boy did it turn out to be WILD) hair to invite friends over and have a BBQ and Marshmallow Roast. It was fun! We even experimented with pool toys as battle weapons. I think they were inspired by the movie "THE PIRATES WHO DON'T DO ANYTHING" which we had watched for FREE at Edwards earlier that day. The kids went a little crazy but we managed to rope them into reality right before 10pm. It was great! Okay, maybe Doug lost it a little when we found him climbing the back tree but all in all we survived. Got to love it!

Fishing with Friends in the Rain

Sunday after church we went to Sam and Robin's house to share a late birthday celebration with Adrian and Wade (they had a birthday party Saturday when we were working at the Yard Sale). Robin's niece and nephew joined us and we went to CJ Strike. It was pouring down rain and we all wondered how smart we were to be at a Power Plant during a lightning storm. However you couldn't pry Doug and Kimberly away from fishing. We started cooking lunch while we were waiting for the storm to pass. Sam worked the grill and Doug started a fire to warm us up a bit. We had a nice surprise because the people fishing next to us was Sam's cousin. We pretty much had the rule of the place because it turned out the other people near us were old friends of Robin and Sam too, what a small world. Then we headed down to fish. I spent a lot of time going up and down the hill to the bathroom thanks to everyone's bladder being on a different time schedule. On one of my trips I missed Doug's BIG Catch. However, I was very excited to catch Kimberly's two great catches. First Kimberly caught a perch and it was so funny because the fish actually got snagged before it actually got the worm it is hard to tell in the picture but the worm is still completely whole. Then Kimberly decided it was a "lucky" worm. She used it again and caught a very big blue gill. The funny thing is that she became a legend in her own time the news of the BIG blue gill traveled down the bank faster then wild fire. I think even with the rain everyone had a really good time. What an exciting fishing trip!

Singing in the Rain

This was a very busy and exhausting weekend. Along with getting ready for a BIG Yard Sale Jayden and Kimberly had Baseball Games EVERY NIGHT! So Thursday night after two games the kids and Doug worked on baked goodies for the yard sale. Kimberly, Emily and Caleb decided to sale food to earn some Kids Camp money. Needless to say the kids got to bed kinda late. Friday we managed to do pretty well despite the occasional short rain showers and when the day ended we were exhausted. Doug fell fast asleep on the couch and I had to work hard to wake him for a wienie roast in our friends backyard. We had so much fun visiting that of course we didn't get to bed until after 11pm. Then of course we were up bright and early for day two of the Yard Sale. I think the kids had as much fun as the adults (okay I realize I look really tired but who wouldn't). We ended Saturday at 2pm right before a HUGE rain storm. The kids went wild playing in the rain. It was no surprise that when everyone left and I took the kids to the library Jayden began to fall asleep in the car. The surprising part was that I could not wake him up even when we got to Walmart. He slept in the cart through the entire store and then when we came home I laid him on the couch and he slept for another two of hours. Poor kid I think we totally wore him out. I really thought he would give us grief about going to bed at bedtime but he didn't. It was definitely a full couple of days.

Jayden studies Creation

Last week Jayden got to go to the First Baptist Church's VBS. This is the school the kids go to Awanas at, and they really enjoy it. I was SO excited to have a week of mornings "childless" however when it actually happened last Monday morning I got a little teary eyed. I felt weird. I actually felt nervous. I went home planning to be excited that I could go through closets without my little "helper" and instead I was sad. But I did get over it because by Thursday I was late picking him up because I lost track of time sorting stuff for the yard sale. Friday the VBS took a field trip. They went on an geological dig to find more evidence of Lake Idaho. Jayden was SO excited! He and his buddy Tucker found some great fossils. Jayden worked so hard digging and exploring that he fell asleep on the bus ride back to the church. All in all we both had a good week and I think he learned a lot!
